The Secret to Improving Your Writing

My friend Jon has been working on his masters degree, which is a university degree that you usually receive when you return to university after already graduating with a "bachelors" or "baccalaureate".  A masters is like "level two".  He's actually studying computer science, and is a great writer himself.

What I want to share is one of his assignments, which was completed as this video - which is really about the writing process.  Since we have studied and often use the writing process, I thought you might enjoy this video.

How do people make videos like this?  Can they really draw that fast?
Post a comment about at least one thing you learned from this video.

  4. Mr. Jon is definitely not only a good writer, but also an fantastic and creative artist. This video is absolutely a helpful one, but it made me understand that being a good writer takes time and practice, moreover patience. Especially in Chinese, when we have to do more strokes for each character. I wish we would have enough time to research for information before we start drafting, then we would also need enough time to revise, which is not proofreading at all.

  7. I think that he should'nt use wikipedia as a research source. I learned that the writing process is really slow, but in class it always feels really fast. Though I know we cut off the research, probably because we write our thoughts or myths, so we don't need research. It be nice if we could do research though. A: 1. Mr. Jon is good at drawing, he probably taped his drawing first, then later just sped it up. 2. Tape yourself drawing slowly, then later speed it up and talk at the same time, them put it on youtube.

  8. I learned that we need to first plan and draft. And you need a quiet space and nothing that distract you and work on it!

  9. I learned you need no distractions in the room you work on your writing, you need to first plan, research, draft then revise. I also think he is a good artist, but I don't know how much time he used in drawing all of that, since the video is already that long when he already fast forwarded.

  12. i learned that if you list down the things your going to do, it makes you more organize and you can remember it easily. listing down your goals is also important, because if you list it down you have something to look at and do the task. but if u don't list it down you will forget your goals and not able to do the task. listing down things is very important!
