Going further: Area of complex shapes

Here is a fantastic example of a student going further in mathematics.  In response to the homework assignment:

"  Find and measure a complex shape at home, and calculate the area.  "

This piece of work shows a great way to be an inquiring mathematician.   I am curious to hear what you think about this type of mathematics homework practice, please comment below.

  1. I'm also curious about how the student could IMPROVE this homework to make their work more clear and organized?
