    1. Well I can give you some starter to take home and grow if you bring in a small container like a water bottle.

    2. Excellent question Helen, that is something we didn't get time to discuss after the lesson. Tomorrow we can talk about our ideas!

  13. It was my very first experience making bread using sourdough, though I have tasted soup in a sourdough bread bowl. I must be honest that I didn't like the uncomfortable smell of the starter and the dough. However when the bread came out hot from the oven, it did smell really nice, hearty and delicious. The first bite was hard, because I had the crust, but the inner part was soft and great. If I had a clam chowder to go with it, it would be superb.
Kneading the dough took time, but I enjoyed it. I am a little bit confused, because in the article it was said that kneading was not necessary. I am sure that using different ovens the bread would taste differently, just like pizza made in a conventional oven or in a brick oven with charcoal taste differently.
I will try to slice my bread and put into a toaster tomorrow, in order to find out whether it would taste again like just fresh out of the oven. This kind of experiment is definitely a good way to learn science, what a pity that we might not be able to do it again!!

  14. I really liked this activity, this is my first time making a sourdough in school. i wish we can have more experiments, my favorite part in making the sourdough was kneeding because i can see what happens if we add the flour and the sour thingy. i saw that when i kneed it the dough gets harder. i also like obseving the bread inside the oven. i wish we can do this activity again, i think this unit will be the most awesome unit in grade 5.
